Privacy Policy – Carbarn Ireland

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Carbarn LLC, Japan ("Carbarn", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use this website or our services to import vehicles from Japan to Ireland.

Carbarn operates from Japan. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. Where we determine why and how your personal data is processed, we act as the data controller for that processing.

2. What Information We Collect

2.1 Personal information — to process your vehicle order and provide export services, we may collect:

Full name
Contact details (email address, telephone number, delivery address)
Identity documentation where export or customs documentation requires it
Purchase history and vehicle preferences
Browsing behaviour on our platform
Payment confirmation, received through secure third-party processing

2.2 Financial information — we accept bank transfer and credit or debit card. Card details are handled by the payment processor and are not stored by Carbarn.

3. Why We Process Your Information and On What Basis

Your personal data is used to:

Perform the contract for your purchase, shipment and export documentation
Meet legal obligations under Japanese export law and to support customs formalities at destination
Operate and improve this website, on the basis of our legitimate interests
Send optional service notices or promotional updates, where you have consented

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties other than as described in this Policy.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

Shipping lines and logistics partners — to arrange export and ocean carriage
IT and hosting service providers — to operate this website securely
Japanese authorities — to comply with vehicle export regulations
Customs brokers and clearing agents you appoint — where you ask us to release documents to them
Legal and regulatory bodies — where disclosure is required by law

5. Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as needed to complete your order and to satisfy the export, tax and accounting record-keeping periods that apply to us, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

6. International Transfers

Carbarn is established in Japan, so personal data collected from customers in Ireland is transferred outside the European Economic Area. Japan has been recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection, and we apply appropriate safeguards to transfers to our service providers where that recognition does not cover them.

7. Data Security

We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:

Encryption in transit across the platform
Restricted internal access to customer records
Hosting on secured servers
No storage of full card credentials

We maintain these standards, though transmission of data over the internet carries inherent risk.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies to operate the site, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. Non-essential cookies are set only with your consent, in line with the Irish ePrivacy Regulations, and you can withdraw that consent or clear cookies through your browser settings at any time.

9. Your Rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Acts, you have the right to:

Be informed about how your personal data is processed
Request access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Have inaccurate personal data corrected
Request erasure of your personal data, where the law allows it
Request that processing be restricted, in defined circumstances
Receive your data in a portable format, or have it transmitted to another controller
Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at {supportEmail}. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's supervisory authority for data protection.

10. External Links

This website may link to third-party platforms. Carbarn is not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites.

11. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Policy following legal or regulatory change, platform changes, or customer feedback. The version published on this site is the current one.

13. Governing Law

This Policy is governed by the laws of Japan. This does not affect the data protection rights available to you as a person located in Ireland, or your right to complain to the Data Protection Commission.
